Custom Design Process

At NARDOS Design, the collaboration between client and designer on a couture garment is an exciting and one-of-a-kind experience. At our Dallas atelier, we strive to make the creative process both a luxurious and effortless endeavor. While fabrics and beading are sourced from all over the world, every couture item produced at NARDOS Design is 100% handcrafted in the United States of America and is uniquely tailored to each client’s specifications. Below, we explain the step-by-step process of making a couture garment with NARDOS Design.

Design Consultation

At your first meeting, you’ll sit down with a NARDOS Design brand representative to discuss ideas and inspirations for your custom creation. After discussing what you are looking for, you will try on samples, review fabric options, select your color, and add any embellishments that will adorn your gown. Once the design has been finalized, your measurements will be taken.

Muslin Fitting

After the design has been finalized, you will be scheduled for a muslin fitting. Muslin is a simple white cotton fabric we use to cut out the pattern of your gown without having to touch any of the final fabric of materials. During this appointment, we will fit the muslin on you to see how the shape and cut of the design look on your figure. This is when you and the designer can make changes and adjustments to the silhouette and design of your dress.

First Fitting

Once the muslin pattern has been approved, we will start creating your couture dress with your actual fabrics and materials. At your first fitting, you’ll need to bring the shoes you plan to wear with your gown so we can make adjustments to the hem length. If your dress has multiple layers, we will only fit the innermost layer during this appointment. Beading will be incorporated at your next fitting.

Second Fitting – Final Fitting

The number of subsequent fittings will vary depending on the complexity of the design. Some clients only need one more fitting after their first fitting and some need a few more. The important thing for us at NARDOS Design is that your dress fits you perfectly and that you are in love with the end result once you leave our atelier.

Out of Town

We frequently work with clients based all over the country. While you will need to fly in for your fittings, we make every effort to accommodate your schedule. We also recommend staying for 2-3 days so we can do several fittings in one trip. We can also ship your finished couture garments to you for your convenience.


At NARDOS Design, we believe it’s never too early to start the design process! Since many of our fabrics and embellishments are sourced internationally, it’s important to book an appointment at our salon as soon as possible. Below are some suggested timelines for our custom pieces:
Custom evening gowns: Three months prior to the event
Custom evening gowns with custom beading: Four months prior to the event
Bridal gowns: At least six months prior to your wedding date
Made-to-order daywear: One month prior to the event
